The amount you pay will depend on if you're travelling on the weight or piece system. If it's the weight system it's very complicated and the the following applies:
Kitesurfing equipment is not included in the weight allowance and a flat fee within a 20 kg limit is charged per trip each way:

- for destinations in zone 1: €20
- for destinations in zone 2: €40
- for destinations in zone 3: €60
- for destinations in zone 4: €80

- These one-way rates are valid on flights operated by AIR FRANCE and KLM, as well as Kenya Airways and Martinair.
- If the item is heavier than 20 kg, you must pay for each additional kilo at the standard rate for exceeding the baggage allowance.
- These permits are nominative, and can be bought up to the day of departure."

If it's the piece system then this probably applies, although kitesurf gear isn't specifically mentioned:
"Bicycles, surfboards, windsurfs:
you will be charged a fee of €150 to check any of these items."

If you have flown with, or know a good tip specific to this airline, please let everyone know by rating it and leaving a report here. Some airlines don't apply (or even know) their own kit policies so it's useful to see other people's experiences flying with them …
