First, Business and Economy Class passengers on Emirates flights are allowed 40 kgs, 30 kgs and 20 kgs of free baggage respectively.
Infants (not entitled to a seat) are allowed 10 kgs free baggage regardless of class of travel (one checked bag not exceeding 115 cms [45 inches] in total dimension).

There's no published policy so we contacted Emirates for more information, but the news wasn't good. They told us this: "In Economy Class customers receive a 20kg hold baggage allowance (Business Class 30kg and First Class 40kg). Anything in addition to this weight is charged per kg over; this charge varies from route to route. If a surfboard, kitesurf or windsurf is part of this excess baggage weight it will be charged per kg accordingly."
However the website does state that some golf equipment is also carried free of charge, so you can try looking like a golfer!
