Economy Seat Pitch:31 help // Rating: rating

On all routes (international and within Germany) the free baggage allowance is defined by the Weight Concept. Here the number of pieces is not so relevant but the overall weight of your baggage. This is allowed as follows:

First Class: 40 kg Business Class: 30 kg Economy Class: 20 kg

Lufthansa tell us it is a very nice airline and wants you to be able to practise your sport whilst on your travels. That’s why Lufthansa has a special excess baggage rate for sports equipment for you on routes where 'weight concept' applies. The Piece Concept fees remain unchanged. Kiteboards fall into the 'medium' category and are charged at the following rates: €40/USD50/CAD56 for domestic and continental routes with Weight Concept. €80/USD100/CAD112 for intercontinental routes with Weight Concept. And finally 50% of the excess baggage fee for intercontinental routes with Piece Concept.

If you have flown with, or know a good tip specific to this airline, please let everyone know by rating it and leaving a report here. Some airlines don't apply (or even know) their own kit policies so it's useful to see other people's experiences flying with them …
